Passengers have been grounded and holiday hopes dashed by the collapse of another tour operator at Kent International Airport. Seguro Travel, which operated weekly passenger flights from Manston to Majorca and the Canaries, ceased trading on Wednesday leaving 2,400 people abroad and scrapping holidays booked by a further 17,000 people.

The Cheshire-based company, which operated Kent Escapes also flew out from Prestwick airport in Scotland. It blamed its shutdown on the grounding of charter airline Futura's planes which provided 80 per cent of its flights. Thanet holidaymakers booked on flights that were due to take off today from Manston are being urged to contact the Civil Aviation Authority to recover their money.
