Sound-activated video recording

Tapping into the wisdom of crowds, and I know you're a wise lot...

We're VERY keen to set up sound-activated video recording systems along (and near) Manston's flight paths, particularly in Ramsgate and the surrounding area.

The idea is to be able to automatically capture movies of planes as they go past, or over (or over and over and over, in the case of training circuits).

At the moment, we don't care if this is an off-the-shelf solution, or some brilliant bodged together Heath Robinson-esque invention - so long as it works.

Consultation process

The consultation process was due to start on 1st November, but was halted on 1st November. It seems to be a reasonable assumption that TDC will have decided the exact and detailed format of the consultation. Does anyone have details of the consultation process?

Decibel-o-meter?

Does anyone have (or have access to) reliable hand-held noise meters? It would be very useful to be able to compare the computer-modelled noise with the actual noise that people hear.

How many lorries?

To get an idea of the road traffic implications of a busy freight airport - IF the freight has to arrive at night to meet the deadlines of that particular supply chain, then presumably it's going to need to be unloaded and on its way as soon as possible. So, one fully laden 747-400 equals how many lorries' worth of freight? Are the perishables being imported arriving in something as convenient as shipping containers that are then craned onto the back of lorries?
