I'm all for it

Got one of your leaflets on public meeting at Kings hall. First of all I do not agree its unwanted development, what about the shortage of housing and jobs in England? Its not as if this space is the only green space around.

If you put Hillborough in the midle of a six mile radius left and right (road atlas britain) you have hardly nothing to the right accept Reculver untill Minnis bay, accept sea views and green fields. Sweeping inwards through to Sarre, Upstreet, Grove you have marshes and open countryside. Westbere you have lakes and rivers then on to Broadoak and Tylerhill more countryside and woods, then Cloweswood, Thorndenwood, Bleanwood, which is about THREE times the size of Herne bay. Then back to the coast Swalecliffe on the left of Hillborough and more open space and sea.

How do I feel "fantastic" hope it gets the go ahead. 1000s of jobs, Good for the economy, more homes Britain needs badly. The only people that are against this are people like you who live close to this area and don't want anyone else to enjoy all it has to offer. Stop thinking of yourselves and think of britain and the tens of 1000s that have to rent or cannot get on the property ladder. I grew up in Kent and know this area very well indeed, we have room for 1000 or so houses. The government want it, our future children want it, the unemployed want it.

Hillborough and its six mile radius is about 25% houses once built, of the houses being 20 small villages as above. 75% green or open space or woods. Herne Bay as a whole being only 10-12% housing in my six mile radius. Look at the bigger picture, look on a map, we have the room. These are my views, my concerns are, hope they put in a petrol station in on the build.

It could be worse, imagine if it were to be a council estate???

How do you work out it will bring more jobs. Yes I agree it will while building but then what happens. There are not enough jobs in and around the area at the moment. Where will all those new people work?
Does anyone know what is happening with the Golf Course site, will that be more houses? Yes we have open land round us but that's what we are trying to protect as well as avoid all the other problems

What about the agricultural land it will take over? Where is going to provide crops in this country for all the extra people they are expecting to build homes for? Lets get our priorities right and leave agricultural land alone and build only on brownfield land.

Where do you live? probably not in this area! Our school/doctors sewerage and drains can hardly cope now, it will be 1000 times worse if these plans go ahead.

So people in the area shouldn't be so selfish and should let others enjoy all the area has to offer?? All the benefits of living in this area will be destroyed should a development of this scale go ahead, and with it bring myriad of problems for the existing residents.

Jobs? They will be industrial in nature, given that these jobs are expected to be generated by the Altira business park, this means lower end wages which just will not earn enough to support many people. The comment about 'it could be council houses', well actually a proportion of the housing quota will be alloted to social housing. How people who struggle to get a mortgage now will be able to afford the private housing they want to build is beyond me.

Also, with the black thunder cloud that is proposed nightflights into Manston, plus the fact that these houses will be sandwiched between a railway line and smelly sewage works.... A very desirable place to live indeed.

I have lived in Bishopstone for 30 years and so have seen lots of estates going up in the area. The poster says "at least it's not a council estate" I would assume he means that their are a lot of problem families and yobs on council estates. Could I remind everyone that as a part of planning permission they have to house a percentage of problem families. It's amazing how just a few of these can disrupt a area.

When they built the Priestfields estate it was a nightmare. We had a gang of yobs that used to congregate on the corner and drive us mad riding their noisy motorbikes around Bishopstone. I will admit that Priestfields is ok now but just pointing out that a estate with another 5000 people has the ingredients for all sorts of trouble. Could I also point out while here, the original report stated it was 1300 houses to be built not 1000.
